Vero - Biometric Policy
Last Updated: May 17, 2026
1. What Biometric Data We Collect
When you complete verification, Vero may collect face templates, face embeddings, or other facial geometry derived from your verification captures and uploaded photos, plus limited verification metadata needed to determine whether verification or review succeeded.
2. Why We Collect and Use It
Vero uses biometric data only to:
- verify that a real person is completing verification;
- compare verification captures against uploaded photos;
- detect impersonation, duplicate accounts, or ban evasion; and
- support fraud, abuse, and safety investigations.
Vero does not use biometric data for advertising or unrelated profiling.
3. Consent
Vero requires affirmative consent before biometric capture begins. By agreeing to the biometric consent prompt and starting verification, you authorize Vero to collect, use, and retain biometric data for the limited purposes described in this policy. If you do not consent, do not complete verification.
Vero records the consent timestamp, consent text, Terms version, Privacy Policy version, and request metadata needed to demonstrate that consent was captured before biometric verification processing.
4. Retention and Deletion
Vero keeps biometric data only as long as reasonably necessary for verification, fraud prevention, safety investigations, ban enforcement, and legal compliance.
Raw liveness verification frames are stored as private object keys, are not exposed through the public CDN, and are made available to authorized moderation tools only through short-lived signed download URLs. Vero keeps these raw frames for a short moderator-review window, currently about 7 days, then deletes the stored frame objects while retaining encrypted face embeddings needed for verification and safety.
For standard account-deletion requests, Vero targets deletion of biometric data within about 90 days of account closure. We may retain biometric records longer where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, ban enforcement, safety matters, or legal obligations.
5. Disclosure
Vero does not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric data.
Vero may disclose biometric data only:
- to service providers acting on Vero’s instructions for verification, hosting, storage, and security operations;
- in response to valid legal process or other legal obligations; or
- when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, or safety threats.
6. Security
Vero uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect biometric data against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
Verification frame storage is configured so verification/* objects must not be publicly readable from the CDN. Production checks include a probe for this private prefix.
7. Deletion Requests and Contact
To request deletion of biometric data, delete your account or contact privacy@vero.dating.
